Praise for MAL-MORTS

"A really well-written gem of a book."

“Its short chapters make this book a nice easy read. I really liked Jean-Marc Ligny’s punchy style.”

“Well it’s a long time since I’ve said to myself, “I’m going to finish this book tonight, what the hell if I have to get up at 5 a.m.” That’s what happened yesterday evening, when I got to around page hundred of Mal-Morts, and I spent the night wrapped in a duvet to get to the end. Well I’ll give you that it’s quite a short book, so I don’t get any credit for doing this. All the credit goes to the author and the editorial team, because, quite frankly, it’s a superb piece of work. The characters have a magic realism about them and one finds oneself putting colleagues’ or real-life acquaintances’ faces on such and such a character. The ins and outs of the plot-line are superbly drawn, with great fluidity of style, and one remains in a sort of indefinably grey area throughout the book without ever really being sure of what is happening or what part of the mystery is supernatural and what part comes purely from psychosis [...]
There is everything necessary for a good read: emotion, mystery, intrigue and adventure (and, for good measure, a superb cover by Coliandre - not bad!). [...]
So I really recommend it, it only takes a few hours and it’s really worth it.”

“So, to sum up, it’s a novel that didn’t let me down and certainly lives up to its superb cover. I can recommend it to all ages who are keen on Fantasy. Although the main character is a girl, I think that boys will enjoy it too. And if you are wondering what to buy for a sister or a cousin, Mal-Morts is the ideal, reader-friendly, serious gift: young-adult literature of a high standard.”

Mal-Morts is a book to be devoured and Jean-Marc Ligny carries us along with brio thanks to his fluid writing style.”

“And, as always with Ligny, the music beats out the rhythm of this new novel as it resonates with echoes of heavy metal bands so dear to today’s teenagers. Mal-Morts is an excellent novel, rich in emotion and powerful images, and we can appreciate this whatever our age.”

Jean-François Micard, Obsküre Magazine n°1

“Far from only offering the umpteenth metaphor about adolescence, Mal-Morts does talk about it a little, but also about the difficulty of communicating with dull, ordinary adults when one is still a child finding out about life and the world. And all this is wrapped up in a captivating Fantasy novel, superbly told by Jean-Marc Ligny, who doesn’t assume his young readers are innocent creatures and confronts them with sometimes quite tough situations. Mark: 8/10”
