I've always Wanted to be a Good Guy
“Hard in a tackle, steady on the ground, phenomenal in the air”, such was Robert Jonquet, centre-half for the great Reims team.
Such also is the writing of Marc Villard, a poet, short story writer and novelist whose works are published by Serie Noire and Rivages/Noir.
Through a succession of action shots he tackles a tricky genre: the autobiographical short story. He becomes a character, the author, rather in the same way that Woody Allen puts himself into his own writing.
These short stories are often funny and even burlesque since Marc Villard is not a man to treat his character with kid gloves. But they are sometimes quietly touching.
The lively acid style characterizes the style of a writer said to be of the very best in the French thriller genre.
