Alliances

“Nao does not wish humanity to disappear. That is why she has to change the course of destiny, to divert this delegation of antermites from the dominant mindset and instill a new natural order into them: humans are partners, not preys. Let us help each other. Let us walk together on the path of evolution. Let us respect each other as equals. There is room for all now.”

Climate has changed dramatically on the 24th century Earth. As a result of a self-perpetuating greenhouse effect, the oceans are evaporating, volcanic activity is drastically increasing and the average temperature has risen by 15°C at least. In addition, the nuclear power station is leaking: people are getting sick and dying, newborns are deformed…

Yet, life is still developing. Notably the fauna. Animals have become more intelligent overall, and at the top of the new chain are the antermites – ants with a remarkable degree of intelligence and social organization.

What is humankind’s place in the new ecosystem, especially in the face of a new dominant species?

“This book of ecological science fiction praises Nature for reclaiming its rights over technologies. It makes us reflect on the shortcomings of our society, and Jean-Marc Ligny develops interesting ideas to live in harmony with flora and fauna, including intra-species communication and benevolence.”
