Ester is a world threatened by the instability of its sun. On the northern continent, the government, urged on by the Church of Moncle, decides to annex the South where the Kroptes, a peace-loving, religious and polygamous people, live. A brutal invasion that conceals another plan: the search for a new inhabitable planet.
Azalon and Loello, locked up in the sinister prison of Doeq, are fighting for their survival, watched over by the "minders": behavioural specialists. They do not know that an even more terrifying test awaits them. A test that Ellula, a young rebel Kropte who has been forced into marriage, has perhaps foreseen: an endless journey across nothingness.
One day, Abzalon has a strange encounter in the underground passages of Doeq. Could it be a Qval, one of those legendary beings reputed to be the first Esterians?
Meanwhile a gigantic building project is being completed on a satellite of Ester: the “Esterion project”...

With Abzalon, Pierre Bordage commences a new space opera cycle.
