Thierry Jonquet
Thierry Jonquet was born in January 1954 in Paris, France, where he spent his childhood either at the movies or in the library in the 10th arrondissement. He claims to have only just scraped through his baccalaureate, which apparently did not stop him from studying philosophy and then ergotherapy. Having worked in various hospitals, he became a teacher, then gave French lessons as part of an educational supervision programme. Two factors were instrumental in his becoming a writer: his passion for thrillers, a genre that he discovered fairly late on, and his work in the gloomy atmosphere of the hospitals where he rubbed shoulders with the down-and outs of life.
Thierry Jonquet was one of the most accomplished French thriller writers, combining a constant concern for exactitude whether it be documentary or historical, a supreme art of suspense and skilful novelistic constructions where uncompromising irony breaks through. His novels leave lasting memories.
